Mt. Rushmore Road Reconstruction Project Update
Project #NH 0016(79)68, PCN 027C
RAPID CITY, SD – Thursday, June 2, 2016 – The Quincy Street driving lanes have been paved and the intersection is open to traffic.
Water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer installation continues along Mt. Rushmore Road between South Street and Fairview Street. Roadway surfacing continues between Kansas City Street and Columbus Street.
The Fulton Street intersection, the Clark Street intersection, and the Fairview Street intersection at Mount Rushmore Road will each be closed intermittently as water and sewer lines are installed.
Business access on Mt. Rushmore Road will remain open at all times. A “Temporary Pedestrian Access Route” will be maintained on the east side of Mt. Rushmore Road through the first phase of construction. Left-hand turns across traffic are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic.
Motorists are asked to slow down through the work zone and be prepared for: suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, minor delays, loose gravel, uneven surfaces and bumps, as well as construction workers and equipment adjacent to the roadway.
