Mt. Rushmore Road Project to Begin Nov. 14

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Complete Concrete, Inc. will begin construction Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, on the first phase of the third project of Mount Rushmore Road reconstruction.

On Nov. 14, the outside southbound lane of Mt. Rushmore Road will be closed at the St. Patrick Street Intersection to allow for installation of temporary signal poles to be used in future phases of the construction. There will be a four-way stop at Saint Patrick Street for approximately one week.

A traffic shift is tentatively scheduled to start Tuesday, Nov. 15. Traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes and construction will begin with surface removal on the northbound lanes from Saint Francis Street through Saint Patrick Street including the entire east leg of the Saint Patrick Street intersection. While the east leg of Saint Patrick Street is closed, a detour utilizing Flormann Street will be in place. This phase of the project will run through January 2017 and will include:
• Traffic Control
• Southbound road surface removal
• Water and storm sewer construction
• Grading, graveling and concrete placement
• Sidewalks and driveways

Business access on Mount Rushmore Road will remain open at all times. Left-hand turns across lanes are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic.

The public may contact the public information specialist for more information on this project.
