RAPID CITY, S.D. – Wednesday, Aug. 2 – A traffic shift on Mount Rushmore Road is tentatively scheduled to start Wednesday, Aug. 9. Traffic will be shifted to the new southbound lanes and construction will begin with surface removal on the northbound lanes from Saint James Street through Saint Patrick Street. This phase of the project will run through January 2018 and will include:
• Traffic Control
• Northbound road surface removal
• Water and storm sewer construction
• Grading, graveling and concrete placement
• Sidewalks and driveways
Business access on Mount Rushmore Road will remain open at all times. Motorists are asked to slow down while driving through the work zone and be prepared for suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, minor delays, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the roadway.
